If you’re a teenager looking for ways to give back to your community, volunteering is the best way. Whether you want to work with animals, mentor kids, or feed the elderly, there are many opportunities for you to help through these amazing organizations.

  1. American Red Cross
The American Red Cross always needs volunteers. You can work at blood drives, help with disaster relief, or even take classes to become a certified babysitter. Since there are so many opportunities available, you’ll be sure to find one that’s perfect for you.
  2. Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a great organization to get involved with if you’re interested in helping families in need. Volunteers construct homes for families, and no experience is necessary. This is a great way to make a difference in someone’s life.
  3. The Humane Society
If you love animals, volunteering at The Humane Society is perfect. You can walk dogs, socialize cats, or even help with fundraising events.
  4. Key Club
Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, Key Club is a volunteer organization for teenagers. Key Club members perform service projects in their community, and can attend leadership conferences. Check if your high school has a Key Club.
  5. Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels is a program that delivers meals to homebound seniors. Volunteers help prepare and deliver meals, and they also have the opportunity to visit with the seniors. This is a great way to make a difference in someone’s life.
  6. Best Buddies
Most Buddies is a nonprofit organization that pairs people with intellectual and developmental disabilities with volunteers. Buddies spend time together, go on outings, and participate in activities. This is a great way to make new friends and help someone in your community.
  7. Sierra Club
According to their website, the Sierra Club has been “protecting communities and wild places for over a century.” Volunteers can help with many different projects, including trail maintenance, environmental education, and more.
  8. DoSomething.org
By volunteering with DoSomething.org, you can help out with a variety of different causes. Some of their current campaigns include fighting period poverty, helping refugees, and supporting LGBTQ rights. You can also start your own campaign if you don’t see one that suits you.

By getting involved with volunteer work, you can make a difference in your community and learn new skills. Consider one of the organizations listed above. You’re sure to find an opportunity that’s perfect for you.
