After a horrible experience with Airbnb with my elderly mother in 2018, I no longer even consider them an option. We arrived at our location to find no air conditioner and the apartment thermometer read 101 degrees in Stowe, Vermont. I had to immediately get a hotel because of mom's health condition and cancel our vacation. I spent countless hours to be refunded $1700 for the apartment, with Airbnb saying they would help me at first. However, neither Airbnb nor Citibank Visa would refund me let alone pay for the hotel room despite the documented health risks for my mom . The host immediately blocked all negative reviews. I now refuse to stay at any Airbnb and cancelled my Citibank Visa who represents venders more than protecting their customers. I now only use Amex and book reputable hotels.
